Understanding Type 1 Diabetes – Commences 17th May 2023

Delivered in partnership with NHS England, Day 1 content will be released on Wednesday 17th and Day 2 will be released on Thursday 18th of May. Course materials can be completed in your own time over throughout the duration. It is thought that each day of content will take roughly 1-2 hours to complete.

Live Q&A sessions with diabetes experts will run on both days of the course over Zoom from 18:00-19:00 BST. They will also be moderating the discussion boards and replying to comments directly on the site over the duration of the course. The site will close at 5pm on Monday the 22nd of May to allow people a bit of extra time to work through the content over the weekend.

Day 1

Day 1 will focus on all things type 1. This includes what type 1 diabetes is and how it’s diagnosed and treated. It will also cover blood glucose monitoring and give people everything they need to know about insulin.

Day 2

Day 2 will focus on the complications of diabetes and how it can impact the rest of the body. It will also cover topics related to what it is like living with type 1 diabetes including travelling, driving, and how lifestyle factors can impact diabetes management. Everyone that completes the course will receive a personalised certificate. The course is also QISMET accredited.
