Collegiate Medical Centre has been awarded Gold level Award for excellence in LGBT healthcare via LGBT Foundation’s Pride in Practice programme for the 2nd time, firstly in July 2017 and then again most recently in March 2021.
Our staff are very aware of the importance of this award with key members of staff acting as LGBT champions for patients.
Our aim is to continue to promote the services available so that we can further improve the LGBT patient experience for all, and have patients representing this within our PPG.

During the pandemic we have been working to achieve a reaccreditation of our Gold award.
The practice had training via zoom on the 17/09/2020 which allowed those that had previously missed our last training too participate, as well as see if we could be doing more to support our patients and community.
Pride in Practice strengthens and develops our relationship with our LGBT patients in the local community. Endorsed by the Royal College of GP’s, Pride in Practice is a support package that enables the practice to effectively and confidently meet the needs of LGBT patients.
The Collegiate Medical Centre has a commitment to assuring that our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender population are treated fairly, have access to appropriate healthcare services and feel able to discuss health issues with us.
This practice recognises the right of every patient to have information about them kept secure and private.
Any information given to any member of staff will remain confidential.
In exceptional circumstances, permission from the patient will be sought before any information is disclosed.
The practice has a confidentiality policy which is adhered to by every member of staff. Patients have a right to the standards of confidentiality maintained by those providing their care and these standards should be made known at their first point of contact.
If you need to speak to someone in private, then please tell the reception staff who will arrange this for you.

Launch of the Pride in Practice Patient Experience Survey 2021
The Pride in Practice Patient Experience survey is an important tool in helping the LGBT Foundation understand the experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people accessing primary care – GP practices, dental practices, community pharmacies and optical practices. It closes on Saturday 31 July 2021.
